Auburn Riverside musical comedy recognized at 5th Avenue Awards

Auburn Riverside High School’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” earned several honorable mentions at the 5th Avenue Awards at Benaroya Hall on Monday.

The musical comedy received honorable mention recognition for outstanding scenic design and outstanding costume design.

The play’s Jade Swepston earned an honorable mention for outstanding performance by an actress in a leading role as Princess Winnifred. Zane Nuttall as Prince Dauntless received an honorable mention for outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role for the musical. And Anna Muhich as The Nightingale of Samarkind also took home an honorable mention for outstanding performance by an actress in a featured ensemble role.

Auburn Riverside’s production of “Urinetown” earned an honorable mention for outstanding performance by an ensemble cast.

In addition, Auburn Riverside’s Ean Zelanak received a special student achievement honor.

Auburn Mountainview High School’s “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” received an honorable mention in outstanding lobby display and outstanding performance by a chorus.

The awards program, which honored high school musical theater, was sponsored by Wells Fargo and supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
