VRFA douses fire at scrap metal facility in Algona

Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority quickly extinguished a fire at a scrap metal facility in Algona on Monday afternoon.

VRFA crews were dispatched just before 4 p.m. to a report of fire at the facility at West Valley Highway South and Ellingson Road in Algona. First arriving crews found a fire in a 10-by-20-foot pit near a vehicle that was to be scrapped.

The fire is under investigation.
