Auburn Mountainview edges Enumclaw 95-91 for league title | Boys swimming and diving

The Auburn Mountainview boys swimming squad earned a 95-91 South Puget Sound League 3A victory over rival Enumclaw on Tuesday.

The Lions got first-place finishes in the 200-meter medley relay – with Tyler Arnold, Owen Lempert, Luke Lavine and Chase Murphy posting a time of 1 minute, 47.05 seconds.

The school’s 200 free relay team also grabbed first with Lempert, Valen Hill, Lavine and Ian Portmann swimming to a 1:39.02 finish.

In individual events, Lavine was first in the 50 free (22.68) and the 100 free (50.72). Lempert had the fastest time in the 100 breast with a 1:07.03 and Arnold was first in the 100 back with a 59.62.

The win secures first place in the SPSL 3A for the Lions, who are 7-0 in league meets, 8-2 overall.

The postseason kicked off Thursday with the SPSL 3A diving meet at Lakes High School. League swimming meet events begin Friday at 3 p.m. and continue Saturday at Lakes.

The postseason continues with the West Central District III swimming and diving tourney Feb. 13-14 at the Hazen Pool.

The state 3A meet is Feb. 20-21 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
