Low-income wage earners reminded to claim tax credit

WorkSource has made it easier for low-income wage earners to file their income-tax forms online and to claim the Earned-Income Tax Credit.

Filers can find a link to the I-CAN e-file site by visiting www.go2worksource.com. I-CAN e-file is free to all users and is available to anyone with Internet access. The site is available in English and Spanish and is certified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as an online tax provider.

While filling out the form, filers who meet income requirements will have an opportunity to claim the Earned-Income Tax Credit. Earned income and adjusted gross income (AGI) must each be less than:

• $38,646 ($41,646 married and filing jointly) with two or more qualifying children.

• $33,995 ($36,995 married and filing jointly) with one qualifying child.

• $12,880 ($15,880 married and filing jointly) with no qualifying children.

“This is just another way WorkSource and the Employment Security Department are working to put money into people’s pockets,” said Employment Security Commissioner Karen Lee.
