The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Executive Board this past weekend approved ticket prices and sites for this winter’s basketball tournament first-round games.
The 4A state tourney will begin at Jackson, Puyallup, Rogers of Puyallup and Richland high schools, as well as Bellevue College, on Feb. 25 and 26. The final rounds will be conducted at the Tacoma Dome on March 3 to 5.
The 3A tourney will be begin at Marysville, Juanita, Inglemoor, Auburn, Auburn Mountainview and Shadle Park high schools, as well as Spokane Falls Community College, on Feb. 25 and 26. The final rounds will also be conducted at the Tacoma Dome on March 3 to 5.
The board also approved SERA Fields in Tacoma as the state tournament sites for 3A and 4A softball for the next two years.
Finally, the board set more restrictive sanctions for violent conduct or abusive language for high school boys soccer. An athlete who receives a red card for violent conduct, including fighting, or abusive language will receive a three game suspension. Any team that accumulates two red cards in a season for violent conduct or abusive language will be placed on probation. If a team earns another red card for and for violent conduct or abusive language during the regular season, they are prohibited from playing in the postseason. If a team enters the postseason with two red cards for violent conduct or abusive language, and then receives a third red card during postseason play, the team forfeits the current game and the opponent advances.
