Auburn Mountainview fades against Bonney Lake, loses 35-28 | Prep football

Auburn Mountainview gave up 21 third-quarter points to Bonney Lake last Thursday, losing 35-28 to the Panthers in South Puget Sound League 3A action at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
After taking a 21-14 lead into the fourth quarter, the Lions (2-3 league, 2-7 overall) allowed Bonney Lake (4-1, 4-5) to claw its way back into the game in the fourth, where the Panthers outscored Auburn Mountainview 21-7.
For the Lions, sophomore quarterback Gresch Jensen was 29-of-47 for 276 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Jensen also led the team’s rushing attack with 16 carries for 113 yards and a TD.
Senior Ray Hardaway had 13 carries for 50 yards and caught a touchdown pass.
Senior wideout Joey Cassano had 13 catches for 141 yards, and sophomore Ryan Lacey had eight receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Weathers added a touchdown reception.
On defense, junior Jason Sele had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Junior Abenego Kodiano added an interception.
The win earned the Panthers a first-round playoff game at 7 p.m. Saturday against KingCo 3A Mercer Island (4-3, 4-) at Sunset Chev Stadium.
The Lions wrap up their season with a crossover game against SPSL 2A Clover Park (1-6, 3-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Auburn Memorial Stadium.
