Auburn and Pacific among local communities supporting Marine runners

Residents of local communities along the Interurban Trail turned out early Sunday morning to show support for the participants of the Always Brothers for One Mind Run fundraising event.
In Auburn, Mayor Pete Lewis was among those who turned out after midnight, forgoing sleep to support the runners, who ran 100 miles from Seattle through Maple Valley, Black Diamond, Enumclaw, Buckley, South Prairie, Orting, Sumner, Pacific, Auburn, Kent and Renton, and back to Seattle.
The runners are a group of former Marines who served on Presidential Guard Duty and were stationed at Marine Security Company Camp David or at the White House Communications Agency (WHCA). The group runs annually to raise funds and awareness for veterans issues.
Proceeds from the run will be donated to One Mind for Research, a nonprofit organization that supports the treatment and research of brain disease such as post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). One Mind for Research is led by CEO Pete Chiarelli; U.S. Army General (retired) who as Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, led the Dept. of Defense’s efforts on PTS, TBI and suicide prevention.
The runners also got a show of support from the city of Pacific, where several residents turned out to cheer them on.
