Lions, Ravens place at state | Prep girls water polo

The Auburn Riverside and Auburn Mountainview girls water polo teams placed at this past weekend’s state championships at the Curtis Aquatic Center.

The Lions opened the tournament with an 11-7 win against Puyallup in pool play.

In the second game, Auburn Mountainview fell 14-10 to Stadium.

On day three, the Lions fell to host Curtis 19-4. Later that evening, the Lions lost a rematch against Stadium, 11-10.

In the battle for seventh place, Auburn Mountainview edged rival Enumclaw 14-9 to finish the tournament with a 2-3 record.

Senior Avalon Lanz was named the tournament’s Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Auburn Riverside finished ninth at the tourney with a 1-3 record.
