The Auburn Riverside boys cross country team ran themselves into a fourth-place finish at this past weekend’s South Puget Sound League North 4A sub district tourney, at Fort Steilacoom Park.
The Ravens – who will run as a team at next Saturday’s Westside Classic 4A district tourney at American Lake in Lakewood – finished with 153 team points.
Tahoma grabbed first with 22 points. The Bears had five runners finish in the top-ten, with senior Riley Campbell winning the event with a 15:43.48.
Kentridge and Todd Beamer finished tied for second-place with 128 points apiece.
Senior Trevor Gesell paced the Ravens with a 10th-place time of 16 minutes, 31.20 seconds.
Senior Isiah Tiangson was 18th with a 16:41.65 and sophomore Corey Brinkman was 24th with 16:49.90.
Also moving on for the Ravens are for the Ravens are Daniel Arnold, Andrew Cooper, Alex McKay and Dax Tate.
Auburn was 16th in the team competition with 447 points, but did not move on any runners to districts.
In the girls competition, Auburn Riverside senior Rachel Covey shaved :15.96 off her previous best time this season to finish 13th with a 19:52.98. As a team the Ravens were 15th with 329 points.
Tahoma, led by Delaney Tiernan who was the fastest girl at the meet with a 18:24.85, won the team competition with 34 points. Todd Beamer was second with 147 and Emerald Ridge third with 153 points.
For the Trojans, senior Kimberly Anderson punched her ticket to districts with a 20:36.67 time, good for 20th in the girls competition.
She will be joined at the Westside Classic by teammate Deneille Wallin who was 36th with a 21:16.55.
The Westside Classic District 3 championship meet gets underway Saturday at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood. The 4A boys run at 1:40 p.m. and the 4A girls run at 2:40 p.m. The top-7 teams and top-35 individual runners in both boys and girls competitions move on to the state meet Nov. 9 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
Elsewhere:
In the 3A district competition at Ft. Steilacoom, the Auburn Mountainview girls qualified for the Westside Classic as a team with a fifth-place finish with 128 points.
Allison Hammer led the way for the Lions with a seventh-place finish of 20:07.30.
Rachelle Kline was 17th with a 21:13.37.
Also moving on for Auburn Mountainvew are Caitlyn Hogencamp, Tiffany Pott, Callie Bartlett and Symone Sullivan.
The 3A girls run at 2:20 p.m. at the Westside Classic, this Saturday at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood.
