When Comedy at the Ave kicks off its new season Sept. 22, you’ll be wondering “Seriously, who is that guy?! He looks sooo familiar!”

The answer? Renton native Brooks McBeth.

The “Almost Live” alum appears live at the Auburn Avenue Theater fresh off an appearance on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”.

Brooks is seen throughout the silver screen and on stage opening for such acts as Frank Caliendo, Drew Cary, Harland Williams, Jack Black, and “Community” star and “Almost Live” buddy Joel McHale. He’s appeared on the Disney Channel, in commercials for Progressive Auto Insurance, Bud Light and Tostitos.

When he isn’t being seen, Brooks is writing for such shows as “Mad TV”, “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” and Comedy Central’s “Trigger Happy TV”.

The son of a retired judge and a retired teacher, Brooks found that comedy was a good direction to take life in. A graduate of Lindbergh High School and later, Green River Community College (which he affectionately calls the “University of Green River Community College”), Brooks went on to work on Seattle’s own “Almost Live” and then moved his comedic career down to Hollywood.

In 2007 the City of Auburn began the Comedy at the Ave Performance Series, expanding the entertainment offerings that have gone back more than 30 years. Each monthly Comedy at the Ave features three comedians for a variety of entertainment to keep you laughing all night long.
