The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 136 calls for service between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3, among them the following:

Dec. 28

Aid call: 7:59 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters examined and assisted an adult female with abdominal pain. The patient was transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) by American Medical Response (AMR).

Dec. 29

Aid call: 11:52 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters assisted a man who was confused and had low blood sugar. King County Paramedics assisted firefighters because of the patient’s medical history. Paramedics transported the patient to ARMC.

Dec. 30

Residential fire: 12:43 p.m.,

(Lea Hill). Firefighters arrived at 28038 118th Ave SE, to find light smoke from the roof area of a residential home. A thermal imaging camera (TIC) helped to locate a hot spot in the attic that was caused by an arcing electrical wire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and performed salvage and overhaul.

Dec. 31

Aid call: 2:40 p.m., (Auburn).

Firefighters assisted an elderly woman who had flu type symptoms. After performing a patient exam, firefighters transported her to ARMC for follow-up care.

Jan. 1

Aid call: 2:48 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters were dispatched to assist an elderly woman who had accidentally removed a catheter. The catheter site was stable, and contact was made with a visiting nurse to arrange for the catheter to be reinserted.

Jan. 2

Illegal burn: 2:47 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters arrived in the 400 block of Algona Blvd. and observed a family in the back yard burning brush and yard debris. The family was advised of the burn ban restrictions, instructed to put the fire out and informed of alternatives for getting rid of yard debris.

Aid call: 6:37 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters assisted a middle-aged man with extensive facial injuries and a head laceration he received from an assault. He was stabilized and transported to ARMC.
