VRFA fire and rescue blotter | March 29

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to calls for service between March 18 and 24, among them the following:

March 18

Aid call: 4:31 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to a woman who was complaining of injuries from a dog bite, and a private ambulance scooted her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

March 19

Illegal burn: 6:46 p.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters dispatched to a complaint of smoke rising from a backyard ended up schooling the errant homeowner on VRFA burning regulations, and the owner extinguished the fire.

March 20

Aid call: 12:38 p.m.,(Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated and treated on scene a senior citizen who was complaining of cardiac pain, and medics transported him to MAMC.

March 21

Fire: 9:44 a.m., (Auburn). A homeowner accidentally left flammable material too close to a burner on his or her stove top in a south Auburn duplex, whereupon firefighters extinguished the fire with minimal damage to the home.

March 22

Aid call: 10:07 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters stabilized a woman who’d dislocated her hip, and a private ambulance hustled her to MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.

March 23

Cooking fire: 3:46 p.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters responding to a smell of smoke in an apartment building found the fourth-floor unit in question and determined the cause had been food on the stove. No damage was caused.

March 24

Apartment fire: 1:33 a.m.,(Pacific). Firefighters responding to reports of a minor grease fire in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue North and finding heavy, dark smoke at the front door upgraded the response to a full commercial alarm. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and nobody was hurt. Investigation determined that the fire had started accidentally from cooking material.
