27 years of going ‘the extra mile’

Ilalko Elementary School celebrates milestone Mile Run; tradition continues for staff, students, guests

Honoring a springtime tradition, Ilalko Elementary School hosted its Mile Run last Friday.

But this year, the run carried special meaning. The school opened and staged its first Mile Run 27 years ago, which officially surpasses the number of miles in a marathon.

In recognition of the milestone, the school invited any and all Ilalko alumni to join them. A special Alumni Mile started at 9 a.m. at the Auburn Riverside High School track. Ilalko students followed, and the celebration continued at the school.
