Cat dies from smoke inhalation | Fire blotter

Between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 325 calls for service, among them the following.
Nov. 8
Accident: 6:49 p.m. (Auburn). Dispatched to a two-vehicle accident, Engines A33, L331 and B331 found both lanes of Terrace Drive Northwest blocked and vehicles that had sustained moderate damage after colliding with each other while turning a blind corner. Engines A331 and L331 assisted with medical care, traffic control and blocking. Both parties refused transport and found alternate means to get to a hospital.
Nov. 9
Accident: 4:52 p.m. (Auburn). Engine 34 responded with Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority units to a car versus pickup head-on collision on Highway 18 near 304th Street. One patient was pronounced dead, and a private ambulance transported a second patient to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) .
Nov. 10
Residential fire: 2:27 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters were called to a house for smoke inside, with initial reports indicating an occupant in the home was jumping from an upper-level window to escape the smoke. The call was upgraded to a full residential fire response. There were further reports of a person still inside when the first firefighters arrived. VRFA personnel quickly entered the home to search for the missing person and control the fire. Moments later, it was reported that everyone had made it out of the home safely, but that a dog and two cats were unaccounted for. A small fire was found in the basement that created a large amount of smoke in the house. Fire crews were able to safely rescue the family’s dog. Puget Sound RFA assisted with the incident and no injuries were reported. The family cat died from smoke inhalation. The fire is under investigation by the VRFA Fire Marshal’s office.
Nov. 11
Aid call: 5:10 p.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to a teen who had injured her neck after falling from a height of 8 feet during cheer practice. A private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
Nov. 12
Accident: 8 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County paramedics responded to 106th Street and Lea Hill Road for a car accident, where they found two heavily damaged cars. Several patients were found at the scene, with one of the patients in serious condition. Paramedics treated and transported that patient to Harborview Medical Center. A private ambulance transported a second patient to MAMC with minor injuries
Nov. 13
Residential fire: 5:55 a.m. (Auburn). The Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire and Rescue and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority responded to a residential fire in the West Hill area and found the garage engulfed in flames. Firefighters doused the flames and other crews were sent into the house to conduct searches and keep the fire from extending into the house from the garage. All residents had gotten out prior to fire department’s arrival. There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Nov. 14
Aid call: 1:55 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and paramedics responded to an unconfirmed unconscious patient in a local business where they recognized signs of a suspected overdose and performed life-saving interventions, including the administration of Naloxone and oxygen therapy. A private ambulance transported the person to MAMC for further monitoring.
