Auburn Riverside pushes Peninsula in double overtime, 72-69 loss | Boys basketball

The Auburn Riverside boys staged a second half comeback on Tuesday, pushing South Puget Sound League 3A leading Peninsula to double overtime before losing 72-69 in South PUget Sound League 3A action.
Down 30-18 at the intermission Raven (2-3 league, 5-6 overall) senior Mitch Wetmore poured in 20 of his 23 points in the second half to get the Ravens back in the game.
With Wetmore on the bench with five fouls a couple minutes into the first overtime, sophomore guard EJ Taylor seized the opportunity to force the Seahawks to (5-0, 7-1) a second overtime with a three-pointer as time ran out.
Taylor finished with five points and Quintin Bethea had 14 points for the Ravens. Julian Gulchuk added nine for Auburn Riverside.
The Ravens travel to Lakes (1-4, 1-7)at 7 p.m. Friday for a league contest.
Peninsula will battle No. 10 Auburn Mountainview (5-0, 9-1) for first-place in the SPSL 3A at 7 p.m. Friday at Peninsula High School.
