The City of Auburn has announced that its summer series “Party on the Plaza” will return to City Hall Plaza for the second year in a row.
For two summer nights, the festival will return for free, family-friendly fun, according to a July 7 city press release.
The events will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24 and Friday, Aug. 28 at City Hall Plaza, 25 W. Main St.
“We’re excited to keep building on the energy we saw last year,” said Jenn Francis, city economic development manager. “Party on the Plaza is a great way to activate downtown, support local flavor and give people another reason to come together in Auburn.”
On July 24, the Tacoma-based band Sons of the Force will perform classic rock covers as well as originals. On Aug. 28, Puyallup-based Slim Wizzy will sing country rock and blues along with line dancing from Buckle & Boot, according to the press release.
There will be several food trucks offered for all ages, along with a beer and wine garden, for residents 21 and older, sponsored by the Auburn Symphony Orchestra and the Downtown Auburn Cooperative.
“Party on the Plaza has quickly become one of those summer evenings that feels like Auburn, with neighbors running into neighbors, families enjoying City Hall Plaza, great local food and live music bringing downtown to life,”Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus said. “We’re excited to bring it back this year even bigger and better, and I hope folks will make a night out with us this summer.”
The events take place in the center of downtown Auburn and are designed to cultivate connections across the community, as well as support local artistry, according to the press release.
