Auburn Riverside fell to 0-8 on the season, 0-6 in the South Puget Sound League 3A, on Thursday with a 42-0 loss to No. 6 ranked Peninsula at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

The Seahawks (6-0 league, 7-1 overall) crashed the Ravens’ homecoming by scoring 21 first-half points and 21 in the third quarter before the dust settled.

Senior running back Major Ali scored Peninsula’s first two touchdowns in the contest on 1- and 11-yard runs. Ali finished the game with 89 yards on 14 carries and caught a pass for 25 yards.

Senior Matt Shirley also scored two TDs for the Seahawks, a 27-yard pass reception from quarterback Rob Kvinsland and a 64-yard punt return. Shirley finished with two receptions for 52 yards and ran the ball three times for 31 yards.

Also scoring for Peninsula were Jared Boerner who had a 3-yard touchdown run and Ky Olson-Urbon who connected with Kvinsland for a 39-yard TD pass.

Kvinsland finished with 10-of-14 passing for 193 yards.

For the injury depleted Auburn Riverside squad – who started senior Gavin Hettinger at quarterback before restoring regular starter Kyle Suttrick position – gaining traction on offense was a struggle.

The team finished with just six first downs and posted just 86 yards of total offense, 112 through the air and minus-26 on the ground.

Suttrick was 8-of-15 passing for 64 yards and was sacked five times by the Seahawks. Sophomore Odarious Shaw had 13 carries for 5 yards, leading Raven rushers.

Rashon Miller had three catches for 50 yards and Hettinger added three for 31 yards.

Defensively, Hettinger led the way with a game-high 8.5 tackles, including one for a loss and a forced fumble.

Auburn Riverside will look for a win at 7 p.m. next Friday as it closes out the regular season against Sumner (1-4, 3-4) at Sunset Chev Stadium.
