Classic cars ready to return to Big Daddy’s

An Auburn tradition returns Friday when classic car owners converge at Big Daddy’s Drive In.

The long-established restaurant along Auburn Way South will hold the first of what organizers hope will be many Friday night car shows. The showcase will run 6 to 10 p.m.

“It used to be a big thing in Auburn. It used to be the thing to do,” said Krista Whitish, who worked at the drive-in regularly as a teenager and helped out at frequent nostalgic car shows.

She is now leading the call for a return of the vintage vroom.

“It’s kind of like a blast from the past,” she said. “A lot of people have been asking about it.”

Whitish welcomes car clubs and individual enthusiasts to join the show.
