The Outlet Collection is constructing a one-of-a-kind children’s soft play area in the Auburn mall, courtesy of Doxon Toyota.

The new Doxon Toyota Play Area opens with a celebration at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. The event, hosted by CLICK 98.9, features music, games, prizes and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:15 a.m.

The first 500 children to bring a nonperishable food donation will receive a surprise gift from The Outlet Collection. All food will be donated to the Auburn Food Bank.

The soft play area is an indoor playground constructed of soft foam material, open and free for children no taller 42 inches. The Outlet Collection’s previous play area, added in 2008, has been removed and construction on the new play area is currently underway. The new play area has been custom designed exclusively for The Outlet Collection and will comprise approximately 1,000 square feet of space.

The play area features iconic elements of the Pacific Northwest, including custom patterned flooring representing the Puget Sound, a 12-foot Space Needle with tunnel, a ferry that children can crawl over or under, a whale climbing piece and a scale version of Mt. Rainier that children can crawl over or through.

There also will be a Toyota Tacoma element and a Scion FR-S element, reflective of the play area sponsor, Doxon Toyota of Auburn.

“When the opportunity came to support The Outlet Collection with a new play area, I thought it was a perfect way for our family to say thank you to those who have supported our business over the past 75 years,” said Mark Doxon, owner and general manager of Doxon Toyota of Auburn.

Other amenities include several play panels, shoe keepers, trash receptacles and soft seating for adults. The play area was designed, manufactured and is being installed by PLAYTIME of Denver, Colorado which specializes in playgrounds for indoor, outdoor and water park applications.

“Our new play area captures the beauty of the Pacific Northwest in a unique and interactive way that children and their families are going to love,” said Chantelle Herburger, The Outlet Collection marketing director. “We truly appreciate our partnership with Doxon Toyota of Auburn, which helped create an attraction that the families of our community will enjoy for many years to come.”

Prior to the Grand Opening, Doxon Toyota and The Outlet Collection are providing families with a chance to be entered to win a $500 gift card to the Great Wolf Lodge, a $25 Outlet Collection Gift Card, and a chance to cut the ribbon with Mark Doxon. Entry forms can be picked up at The Outlet Collection’s Guest Services or at Doxon Toyota in Auburn.
