Watching the Auburn City Council’s actions regarding the proposed teen and community center makes me think of all the worst cartoons about the woman who returns home from a shopping spree loaded with goodies exclaiming about all the money she saved.
Because there is some grant money available the council proposes spending $6 million on this scheme.
A couple years ago the City claimed we had a critical road problem, and we needed a bond issue to raise the funds because we didn’t have enough monies available in the normal budget for such a task.
Has our City income increased so much that we can now repair all the roads and have funds remaining for such a building endeavor? I doubt it.
