Sure, we should have a city flower. And all kidding, or not, aside, let’s think outside of the box. The flower box.
Let’s revisit the lowly dandelion. A dandelion is, among other flowers, most plentiful. Yep, it grows in cracks and vacant lots. How cool is that. Anybody can be the proud owner of many at no cost. It requires no water or fertilizer, which makes it very eco-friendly. No cultivating or weeding for these little gems.
Hey, they’re pretty. A burst of yellow in all our green. I envision a dandelion parade with a queen on a float because Auburn loves a parade. How about puff ball races on a soft summer breeze? Or toasting your friends with a glass of fresh dandelion wine? Or an annual award for the property owner with the most and the best? Loosen up, would you want to be the homeowner who has not one dandelion growing anywhere? Not me.
