Not a vote of confidence

The primary election is over and it says a lot of things about the mayor of Auburn. With no disrespect to the challenging candidates, they were marginal in experience and, arguably, questionable for the mayoral position. But when one looks at the numbers, it should be noted that Mayor Lewis still pulled less than half of the total vote (47 percent).

If Pete Lewis should win the November election, he really needs to sit back and look at those numbers. More than half of the Auburn residents who went to the polls in the primary wanted a change. Clearly, we are not satisfied with his tenure. We are not happy with his decisions. We are not happy with his priorities.

I’ve lived and worked in this community for nearly 40 years. I’ve seen the cities to the north and south make huge strides in the improvement of traffic flows. They also have made wise decisions about business development that have proven quite successful. This administration has not made the best decisions and, in my view, is wasting my tax dollar. The major arterials have screamed for improvement for years and still nothing significant. The average citizen does not need their tax dollar spent “downtown.” Do something that improves our lives. Thank you.
