Questions about the cold weather plan

I am responding to Sarah Miller's letter ("Cold weather plan is in place for the homeless", Auburn Reporter, Dec. 20) about a plan in place for the homeless. I am wondering if the warming shelter opens on the third night of consecutive freezing temperatures or do the homeless have to wait until the fourth night?

The reason I am asking is because we had freezing temperatures for three straight nights (Jan. 3-5). I drove by the warming center (on Jan. 5) a little after 9 to see if I could bring some food by, but it wasn’t open and I am wondering why?

I thought 9 p.m. would be late enough just in case the building was rented. So I am wondering what the plan is that supposed to be in place?
