Now that election season is over, it is time to clean some of the mud off of the innocent bystanders of the mayor's race in Pacific. Specifically, the record needs to be set straight regarding the political "misstatements" made by the now new mayor about building official Roger Smith.

Now that election season is over, it is time to clean some of the mud off of the innocent bystanders of the mayor’s race in Pacific. Specifically, the record needs to be set straight regarding the political “misstatements” made by the now new mayor about building official Roger Smith.

Mr. Smith does not drive a City vehicle to and from Chehalis every day. He lives in Auburn. Roger works eight hours every day like most of the City of Pacific employees – not two hours as stated by the successful candidate.

Lastly, permit fees are based on an adopted fee schedule and codes. They are not determined in an arbitrary and capricious manner.

The new mayor claims to be an honorable man. If so, he will recant this “free political speech.” Unfortunately, it is difficult to unring a bell.
