Special place for books of all sorts

I would like to mention a little bookstore in town that has been in operation here in Auburn since the 1960s. I am referring to Comstock’s Bindery & Bookshop on Main Street.

I would like to mention a little bookstore in town that has been in operation here in Auburn since the 1960s. I am referring to Comstock’s Bindery & Bookshop on Main Street.

From the outside, it may not seem very big, but inside there is an amazing collection of books. Shelves full of books on a wide variety of subjects are lined all over within this neat and eclectic bookstore.

I wanted to bring public attention to Comstock’s because just like other small “ma and pa” type of businesses, the Internet’s nonprofit and large chain bookstores are slowly bringing their demise to these little stores.

Auburn used to be full of small shops such as this. But with the expansion of everything and the “Auburn is Growing” mentality, these little stores are slowly disappearing from our community. This really saddens me because Auburn has always been a small town with that small-town feel and friendliness.

But now it seems we are turning into a “Little Seattle” of sorts, and these small stores, these locally-owned-and-run stores such as Comstock’s, are losing valuable business and will eventually have to close. I do not want this store to close before its time.

Comstock’s Bindery & Bookshop especially has a wide variety of military and history subjects, as well as a wide range of other topics.

Another thing I love about this store is if you have books needed by them, you can sell them or even take them in as trade on other books.

They have an on-site bindery if you have an old or damaged book you just cannot get rid of. The two people I see working there are very friendly and knowledgeable, not to mention down-to-earth and considerate.

Please, if you enjoy a good book, looking for an old book, or simply just enjoy spending time in a bookstore pondering over all the many selections, please come into this store.
