Taxpayers win from Auburn road bond loss

I, for one, am delighted that the voters of Auburn finally won one, and the bond issue for the roads failed.

Potholes or no potholes, we don’t want another bond issue and property tax increases.

The voters unknowingly passed the bond issue to replace the fire station on Lea Hill, which, to my knowledge, cost us $3.5 million dollars. My property taxes went up and in turn, boosted my mortgage payment. This firehouse is overkill, houses only three firefighters and is state of the art, yet has no aid car. Doesn’t make sense to me.

As for the roads, if Mayor Lewis would have spent the “Save our Streets” money on the roads, we wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place. However, our mayor has his own agenda, doesn’t he?
