The Auburn High School Actors’ Guild will present “The Mistresses Revenge” – a modern English adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” – for six evening performances at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St.

Written in the late 1580s, the play shows a slice of life in Windsor, a rural community of Tudor England. The author has jazzed it up with added slapstick and music that was composed for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival 2006 production of “Merry Wives”.

The main story is about two lady friends who discover they are the target of a plot to get money from their husbands by a destitute Knight living in the local inn. While they work their revenge, others get mixed up in the twists and turns, that ends with the whole village in the Windsor Forest at midnight. Revenge has never been so sweet and funny.

Tickets are available at the door: $8 general admission, $6 students, seniors and active duty military. For more information contact the director at wkerr@auburn.wednet.edu.
