Auburn Teen Community Players present ‘The Wedding Singer’

The Auburn Teen Community Players’ summer production of “The Wedding Singer” comes to life at the Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Ave.

Performances are 7 p.m. July 28, 29 and 30, with a 2 o’clock matinee July 29.

Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, “The Wedding Singer” is a romantic musical. Set in 1985, rock star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

The Auburn Community Players are comprised of local, volunteer actors from the community. They produce two musicals a year, rehearsing and building sets and costumes in their spare time. To audition or volunteer, visit the ACP Facebook page or contact the Auburn Parks Department.

Tickets are $15 regular, $13 for students and seniors. Call Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 253-931-3043 or order online for will call-only pickup through Brown Paper Tickets at auburnwa.gov/arts.
