Dr. S. Ross Fox will join other leading medical professionals in bringing an importance message to this week’s Seattle Bash Weight Loss Surgery Conference.

“The main message is that obesity is an incurable disease,” said the Auburn physician, one of the highly respected and most recognized authorities on weight management in the country. “We can put it in remission. We can get rid of the weight but it can always come back. My function is to help those keep the weight off.”

Dr. Fox is scheduled to speak Friday and Saturday at the four-day conference, which is scheduled to open each morning at 7:30 at the Seattle Airport Marriott at Seatac, 3201 S 176th St.

Katie Jay, founder and director of the National Association for Weight Loss Surgery, will be among the many guest speakers.

Conference participants will get the latest medical education on weight loss surgery at dozens of break-out sessions such as “Increased Safety of Weight Loss Surgery,” “Why Obese Diabetics Can’t Lose Weight,” “The Importance Of Gastric Band Fills” and “Flouroscopy’s To Achieve Weight Loss”, and “Revision Surgery: Which have the best outcomes?”

Friday night will feature a surgeon speaker’s panel – an informative, relaxed, and often humorous opportunity to get to know the conference speakers.

For Dr. Ross, 82, the conference is great opportunity for professionals and the public to connect.

Dr. Ross was the first surgeon, after its inventor, to use the LAP-BAND System on patients. He personally monitors all of his patients to ensure their optimum health and success. Since 1962, he has managed more than 6,500 cases of severely overweight patients.

Dr. Fox no longer performs bariatric surgery but manages obesity patients. He is so well respected by his peers that he was voted “Man of the Year (1997) by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery

While the BAND is growing in popularity and acceptance as a way of treating obesity, Dr. Fox cautions that the patient must do his or her part in regulating weight.

Dr. Fox’s breakthrough Foxkins Diamond Weight Management Program helps obese patients lose weight safely and effectively and to maintain that weight loss over time. Dr. Fox developed the program during his 47-year career as a weight loss physician, helping patients lose weight through surgery, nutrition counseling, diet, prescription medications and behavior modification.
