Daren Hoerth named Classified Support Employee of the Year

He works and lives in Auburn.

The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Daren Hoerth, electrical technician in support services, as the Classified Support Employee of the Year.

Daren has been in the ASD for 10 years. He subbed as a paraeducator for three years and was selected for his current role seven years ago. Prior to working in Auburn, he was a contractor for fire and security alarms in the Puyallup School District.

Daren loves working in the ASD and loves the challenges of being creative to engineer solutions that support students and staff. He recently spearheaded an ADA door access project to improve the school experience for a student who uses a wheelchair.

In nominating Daren, Dan Duran, coordinator of support services said: “He demonstrates professionalism daily by providing the utmost customer service in every interaction with all building staff. Daren is part of the Auburn community and takes great pride in making a positive impact to the students and staff of our district.”

Daren grew up in Kennewick. He moved to Auburn when he was 17 and graduated from the ASD. He lives in Auburn and has four adult sons.

When not working, Daren enjoys writing and playing music on the piano. One of his dreams was to someday play on the Auburn Performing Arts Center stage. He also enjoys spending time with his cat that he rescued from Auburn High named no-name-cat.
