Discover the naked truth with The Emperor’s New Clothes April 16-17 at the Auburn Ave

Follow Wart and Hog as they help the people of Glump teach the Emperor a valuable lesson … about his new clothes.

The Emperor’s New Clothes, a fairy-tale pop musical, comes to the Auburn Avenue Theater this weekend.

Performances are 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The show marks the culmination performance of the Spring Break Theater Camp.

Follow Wart and Hog as they help the people of Glump teach the Emperor a valuable lesson … about his new clothes.

The kingdom of Glump has been falling apart ever since the pampered emperor became wrapped up in his tasteless wardrobe. Not only is he a big-headed clothes-aholic, his three “lovely” daughters are quickly becoming chips off the old blockhead. Enter two con artists, Wart and Hog, who devise their ingenious plan for fleecing the emperor.  Naturally, everyone pretends to “see” the magic cloth, until the emperor’s serving boy covers him up at the parade, laying bare the facts: the emperor has no clothes on.

The show features tunes with eclectic music styles, ranging from ’50s rock to ’20s jazz, Celtic and more.

Auburn Kids Theater Camp performs twice a year during the spring and summer breaks.  The camp emphasizes vocal work, choreography and movement, acting, designing, costuming and more. Rehearsals for The Emperor’s New Clothes ran for two weeks, during the day during the break, and in the evening during school.
