Rick Meyers invited children to play along during the show ‘n tell program, “Old-Time “Old-Time Music Show,” at the Muckleshoot Library on Monday.
Meyers, an electrician from Portland, has been performing and teaching pioneer music dance and folklore for children and adults since 1976. He makes about 60-75 appearances each year, playing for all ages at libraries, schools, festivals, farmers markets, parks and campgrounds. Meyers plays as many as 15 instruments, including the guitar, limberjack, saw, autoharp, spoons and washtub bass. His entertaining programs are as interactive as they are educational.
“They get to see that anybody can participate in the music,” said Meyers, whose shows also integrate dance and craft making.
