Caught up in the days of doo-wop sounds, teens with Heavier Than Air Family Theatre Co. are falling for “Leader of the Pack: The Ellie Greenwich Musical”.

The jukebox sensation was a 1985 Tony Award nominee for Best Musical, and celebrates the life and times of an artist whose songs skyrocketed to the top of the ’60s pop charts.

A cast of 14-17 year olds from the company’s musical theatre camp takes you on a stroll down memory lane with hits like “Chapel of Love”, “Da Do Ron Ron”, “Be My Baby”, “Do Wa Diddy”, “And Then He Kissed Me”, “Baby I Love You”, and, of course, the title song, “Leader of the Pack”.

The show literally dances on stage with an upbeat look into the triumphs and misfortunes of the Brooklyn-born songwriter.

Performances are 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6, with a 3 o’clock matinee on Aug. 6 in the Green River College Performing Arts Building, 12401 SE 320th St., Auburn.

All tickets are $10 when purchased in advance by calling 253-833-9111, ext. 4966. If available, tickets at the door are $12.
