Les Gove Park lights up with bocce bonanza

It was a bocce showcase on a sunny Saturday at Les Gove Park. A total of 15 teams, some from as far away as Bellingham and Portland, converged on the courts for the fourth annual Washington State Bocce Tournament, sponsored by host Auburn Bocce Club and the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department.

It was a bocce showcase on a sunny Saturday at Les Gove Park. A total of 15 teams, some from as far away as Bellingham and Portland, converged on the courts for the fourth annual Washington State Bocce Tournament, sponsored by host Auburn Bocce Club and the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department.

West Side Italian, a civic club from West Seattle, took the title. The team’s name will be engraved on the Parks, Arts & Rec’s perpetual plaque that is displayed in the rec office at Les Gove Park.

The results:

First-place team: West Side Italian, (civic club) West Seattle, Pat Henry, Brian Henry, Scott Henry and Chris Henry.

Second: Auburn Bocce Club, Salvatore Cascone, Ed Cerbone, Reed Abrahamson and Paul Kartinen.

Third: Auburn Sons of Italy, Auburn, Salvatore Mancuso, Joe Lupo, Larry Galloway

and Ray Gagnon.

Fourth: Le Quarto Stelle, captain Anna Riconoscuito, Tacoma.

Fifth: ABC Bowlers, captain Dennis Moore, Auburn.
