MG meeting part of Auburn’s month-long celebration

Dr. Steven Hamilton, a board-certified neurologist, will be the guest speaker in a special meeting for those families affected by myasthenia gravis – a rare, often misdiagnosed, autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness of voluntary muscles.

The meeting, which is set for

2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Auburn City Hall Chambers, 25 W. Main St., is part of the Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month “Uniting for a Cure … Together we are Strong” celebration.

Dr. Hamilton has completed advanced medical training in the specialized field of neuro-ophthalmology.

Patients, family, friends and anyone interested in MG are welcome to the meeting. Refreshments will be served.

The City of Auburn proclaimed June as MG Awareness Month, and urged all residents “to focus attention on the need for education, treatment, research, and ultimately a cure for the disease.”
