Season tickets available for Auburn Symphony Orchestra’s concert lineup

Auburn Symphony Orchestra officially announces its 14th season of special programs beginning in October with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Chausson’s “Poeme” for Violin and Orchestra featuring ASO’s new concertmaster, Brittany Boulding, and Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.

ASO will perform “From Vienna to Paris” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St., Auburn.

It is the first of three ASO concerts for the 2010-11 season.

The orchestra, led by internationally-renowned conductor Stewart Kershaw, also will perform on the APAC stage:

• ASO Goes Beyond the Score: 7:30 p.m., Feb 19; 2:30 p.m., Feb. 20. The program will combine video, narration and music based on Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Beyond the Score and will bring Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5 in E Flat Major to life.

• In Memoriam Gustav Mahler: 7:30 p.m., April 30; 2:30 p.m., May 1. The all-Mahler concert will pay tribute to one of the world’s greatest symphonists with “Blumine”, “Songs of the Wayfarer” with the return of baritone Victor Benedetti, and Symphony No. 1 in D Major “The Titan”.

Founded in 1996, the fully-professional orchestra has more than 60 musicians led by Kershaw, a former music director for 25 years of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra.
