The Diamonds, one of top “Doo Wop” musical groups of all time, perform at 7 p.m. today at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St.

The group emerged in the late 1950s, producing several hit songs, including “Silhouettes”, “The Stroll” and “That Lovin’ Feeling”. Their biggest hit, “Little Darlin’, is considered by some to be The National Anthem of Rock-n-Roll. It was prevented from being No. 1 on the 1957 Billboard Top 100 hits by Elvis Presley’s “All Shook Up” as it occupied the top-two spots, respectively, for eight weeks.

The Diamonds appeared on American Bandstand 33 times, had three golden records and 16 hits. They were featured in the soundtracks for “American Graffiti” and “Happy Days”. Their music is self-described as “Classic Rock-n-Roll with Today’s Attitude”.

Opening for The Diamonds will be Ryan Coleman, a Buddy Holly tribute singer.
