Tingstad and Rumbel to play at the Ave

Grammy Award winners and Carnegie Hall performers Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Auburn Avenue Theater.

Grammy Award winners and Carnegie Hall performers Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Auburn Avenue Theater.

Tingstad and Rumbel have performed, recorded and have been touring together for more than 25 years with 19 albums to their credit, traveling to as many as 50 concert venues a year.

Tingstad is a composer who plays finger-style guitar. Rumbel is one of the world’s premier oboe and English horn players and a virtuoso of the double ocarina.

The two began their collaboration in 1985, with their debut album, The Gift, quickly becoming a holiday classic. The next 20 years saw countless reviews, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Billboard and number one debuts on several radio charts.

In 1998, their album American Acoustic was honored as “Acoustic Instrumental Album of the Year.” In 2000 Tingstad and Rumbel appeared at Carnegie Hall and in 2003 received a Grammy Award for Acoustic Garden.
