Train

Train started playing as a band in San Francisco back in 1994 at the Mad Dog In The Fog, and quickly learned that the chemistry between Patrick Monahan (vocals), Jimmy Stafford (guitar) and Scott Underwood (drums) worked well. While they had a big following in their market, record labels were not beating down their door for them to sign. After recording their own album, Columbia Records reconsidered and signed the group.

Their debut album, Train was released in 1998 with the hit “Meet Virginia.” Three years later Drops of Jupiter was released, and the band’s popularity surged. The lead single in that album, “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)” was an international hit, winning two Grammy Awards in 2002. The album went on to be certified double platinum, and is their best selling album to date.

Platinum-certified album My Private Nation followed in 2003, and the hit single “Calling All Angels” capture high air play.

Following their fourth album, the band went on a three-year hiatus, with Patrick Monahan pursuing a solo career.

Train reunited and released the single “Hey, Soul Sister” in 2009. It became an international hit, peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, topping the charts in Australia and the Netherlands and becoming a top 10 hit in multiple other countries.

Save Me, San Francisco, the band’s fifth studio album, was released in October 2009. For the album, the band worked with several producers, including Martin Terefe and Gregg Wattenberg. It peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200, earning a gold certification from the RIAA.The album’s second and third singles, “If It’s Love” and “Marry Me”, became top 40 hits on theBillboard Hot 100.

In April 2012, Train released their sixth studio album, California 37; it peaked at number four on the Billboard 200.The album’s lead single “Drive By” peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also became a top ten hit in multiple other countries. In Sept. 2014 the band released the album, Bulletproof Picasso, and in 2015 released Christmas in Tahoe.
