The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 283 calls for service between May 10 and May 16, among them the following:
May 10
Elevator rescue: 5:01 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of two passengers stuck in an elevator manually opened the doors and freed the two trapped occupants. Neither victim required medical treatment.
May 11
CPR: 5:45 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and paramedics successfully performed CPR on a man, and then paramedics transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further evaluation and treatment.
May 12
Aid call: 11:23 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters treated a woman for COVID-19, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
May 13
Brush fire: 8:12 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters who had been dispatched to a fire in the backyard of a residential home found a small, unattended brush fire, which they swiftly extinguished. From the homeowner, firefighters learned that a small amount of hot embers had been discarded into a small plastic container the night before. No one was hurt and there was no property damage because of alert neighbors and the quick fire response.
Accident: 1:37 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters helped a middle-aged man who had a seizure while driving, causing a low-speed accident without injuries. A private ambulance transported the man to MAMC.
May 14
Accident: 9 p.m. (North Auburn). Crews dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on northbound Highway 167 found one vehicle that had been involved in a hit-and-run accident with moderate damage. Crews evaluated the driver and a private vehicle transported the driver to Valley Medical Center.
Drowning: 3:36 p.m. (Green River Gorge). Swift water technicians who had been called to help find a missing person in the Green River found the man near the last scene point. The body was removed from the water and left in the care of King County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
May 15
River rescue: 6:18 p.m. (Green River Gorge). Multiple swift water technicians were called to help a person who was trapped on a rock in the Green River. The patient was safely removed from the rock by an Enumclaw firefighter in a kayak, and returned to shore without injury.
May 16
Aid call: 3:51 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics responding to an unconscious and unresponsive man arrived to find bystanders performing CPR, so they assessed the man and continued CPR. Firefighters and medics regained a pulse, and medics transported the man to MAMC for further treatment.
