2 sustain minor injuries as truck rolls down embankment onto carport roof

Two teenage boys were transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center after they rolled their truck down an embankment and onto the carport of a home located in the 5400 block of A Street Southeast.

The two boys sustained minor injuries in the early Saturday morning incident.

The occupants of the home were awakened at approximately 3:45 a.m. by the noise of the crash, but were uninjured. Conflicting reports of a third passenger in the vehicle led to two searches of the area, but nothing was found.

Valley Regional Fire Authority units were dispatched to a report of a truck rollover into a home at 3:46 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a full-size Dodge pickup truck had left a dirt road on an embankment and rolled approximately 200 feet down the hill, landing on the carport roof of a home.

The two occupants of the vehicle, approximately 18-year old boys had exited the truck and were evaluated by the VRFA. They were treated for minor injuries and transported to Auburn Regional. The four adults living in the home, two females and two males, were uninjured and allowed back in their home.

VRFA firefighters and Auburn Police thoroughly searched the embankment for a possible third passenger immediately after the crash, and again at daybreak, but no one was found.

The Auburn Police Department will continue to investigate the incident. A Class C tow truck safely removed the truck from the roof of the carport.
