30th District Democrats – representing Federal Way, Algona, Pacific, Milton, unincorporated Lakeland and parts of Auburn and Des Moines – hold their Legislative District Democratic Caucus on Sunday, March 9 at the Federal Way Library, 34200 First Way S.
The caucus begins at 1 p.m. in Meeting Room 2.
The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates to represent the 30th Legislative District at the Washington State Democratic Convention on June 20-21 in Spokane.
Delegates at the convention will address resolutions, adopt a state party platform and conduct other party business.
All registered voters or any 17 year-old who will be eligible to vote on Nov. 4 of the 30th District who consider themselves Democrats may participate in the caucus.
The caucuses and conventions are a chance for grassroots Democrats to influence the direction of the party, shape the platform and get involved as the party prepares for this year’s elections.
Several Democratic local and state legislative officials will be in attendance to give presentations on issues facing the community.
The 30th District Democrats are led by Tim Burns (chair); Richard Champion (first vice-chair) and Kim Dixon (second vice-chair).
