A man was shot and killed in Auburn

A fight turned deadly on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the 2800 block of J Court Southeast, according to the Auburn Police Department.

At about 2:30 p.m., Auburn police responded to the shooting and found the victim unconscious at the scene. They attempted life-saving measures, but the man was later pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Upon investigating the shooting, the police learned there was a fight between the 41-year-old victim and a 29-year-old man who is suspected of the shooting, according to the Auburn Police Department.

During the fight, the 29-year-old man allegedly picked up a gun and shot the victim one time, according to the Auburn Police Department. The 29-year-old man was still at the scene when police arrived, and he was taken into custody.

The 29-year-old was booked into jail and charged with second-degree murder, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Police are still investigating the crime and haven’t established a relationship between the victim and suspect beyond the fact they know each other, according to the Auburn Police Department.
