Auburn CERT graduates 27 new members

The City of Auburn Emergency Management Office this week announced the addition of 27 new members to the area's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), bringing the total number of graduates in the local program to 394.

The City of Auburn Emergency Management Office this week announced the addition of 27 new members to the area’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), bringing the total number of graduates in the local program to 394.

The 27 new members finished the course last Saturday and will graduate from the area’s 21st CERT course during a special presentation at the City Council meeting on Monday. The course included six intensive nights of training as well as two Saturday drills. The training culminated in a hands-on practical exercise simulating an earthquake.

Graduates of the class included: Wendy Beers, Dan Berry, John Bittinger, Laurie Bulson, Terri Chlebeck, Richard Engler, Scott Gibbons, Raejean Kreel, Paul Lancelle, Karen MacDonald, David McKillip, Sean Ryan McIntire, Brent Murray, Gary Nitschke, Michelle O’Brien, Nancy Pendleton, Jeff and Jackie Petersen, Mayra Ramirez, Sam Ripley, Mary Rogan, Julia Sutcliffe, Rebekah Thomas, Teresa Vaughn, Jim Wells, and Helen and Robert Zimmerman.

The Emergency Management Office is working on scheduling the next CERT training. Information and applications for upcoming classes may be found on the City website at www.auburnwa.gov/disaster.
