Don Stevenson, Auburn’s ultra-marathon walker, returned home last Friday to greet Cullen Steele in time for a benefit concert for the 10-year-old boy at the Auburn Avenue Theater.

About $7,000 was raised at the ‘Buddy Holly’ concert for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) and Cullen, a fifth-grader-to-be at Auburn’s Holy Family Catholic School who faces a possible double-lung and heart transplant because of pulmonary hypertension.

To help Cullen’s cause, Stevenson walked 1,200 miles across the state of Washington to raise awareness and money.

Donations for Cullen can be made at www.cotaforcullens.com.
