Auburn lives to play another day with 62-56 win over Kentwood | Prep boys basketball

The Auburn boys basketball team kept their state tournament dreams alive Saturday with a 62-56 win against league rival Kentwood in the second round of the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 Boys Basketball Tournament, at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

The Auburn boys basketball team kept their state tournament dreams alive Saturday with a 62-56 win against league rival Kentwood in the second round of the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 Boys Basketball Tournament, at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

The win advanced the Trojans (12-11) to the third-round of the double-elimination tourney, and a consolation bracket, loser-out contest against Curtis (19-4), Tuesday at Auburn High School. Auburn lost their first-round district game 69-35, Thursday against Union.

A win earns Auburn a berth in the Washington State 4A Regional boys basketball tourney as at least a No. 5 seed. The tourney begins at various sites on Feb. 28.
