The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible homicide of an Auburn man near Coulee City early Sunday morning.

According to investigators, two men in their 40s were drinking in an area near Banks Lake on Saturday night and into early Sunday morning. They eventually became intoxicated and started wrestling.

As they were wrestling, one of the men stopped breathing and died. He was identified as 41-year-old Anatoliy P. Mitskavich.

The other man, also from Auburn, called for help and waited for medics to arrive.

Grant County investigators say they detained the man who called for help, but he has not been charged with any crime. They will wait for the autopsy report to determine if any charges need to be filed.
