A 21-year-old Auburn man died in a crash on Interstate 90 on the evening of Jan. 7.
According to a Washington State Patrol memo, at approximately 4:01 p.m. Jan. 7 in Kittitas County on I-90 at milepost 58, 22 miles west of Cle Elum, Brayden A. Duncan, 21, of Auburn, died in a crash. According to the memo, the cause was that speeds were too fast for the conditions.
The memo states that Duncan was traveling westbound on I-90 in a 2004 Honda Civic, and a semi-truck driven by a 32-year-old Spokane man was also traveling westbound on I-90. According to the memo, Duncan slid, struck a jersey barrier, re-entered lane one and was then struck by the semi.
Duncan’s vehicle then came to rest in lane two of three, and the semi came to rest in lane one. The Spokane man was not injured.
According to the memo, drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
