Details of the incidents
According to documents, at 9:58 a.m. Aug. 31, 2024, officers responded to a burglary call in the 19000 block of 137th Avenue Southeast in Fairwood. Documents stated that upon arrival, the homeowner told officers that he had gone into his garage and noticed the garage door open and the lid of the chest freezer open.
The owner then reviewed his Google Nest driveway camera and Tesla in-car camera footage, which captured a pair of males entering his garage at approximately 11:53 p.m. with their faces covered. Documents also stated that video footage captured the males searching for items in the garage and then leaving with a North Face bag and other unknown items, as the previously empty bag was now filled. The owner told officers that he and his wife were in the residence at the time of the burglary.
According to documents, officers from other agencies saw the video footage and through identifying features of the suspects believed that the identities of the two burglars were Savoy and Sanders. Cellphone GPS evidence further confirmed that they were at the scene of the burglary.
On Sept. 3, 2024, a burglary then occurred at a home in the 12000 block of Southeast 65th Street in Bellevue, where a bag and a safe containing five firearms were stolen. Additionally, one of the vehicles at the residence was broken into, and credit cards were stolen from it. The owner said he was home during the incident. According to documents, an attempt to use one of the credit cards then occurred at a Safeway in Federal Way, and through that incident, Sanders was identified as one of the people attempting to use the credit card.
According to documents, phone records subsequently revealed that Sanders and Savoy had been at the Bellevue residence on the date of the burglary. Officers later learned that Sanders gave away most of the firearms after the burglary.
Documents stated that Savoy also committed another burglary at a home in the 6500 block of 127th Place Southeast in Bellevue.
After recovering evidence linking the pair to the burglaries, Sanders was arrested on Sept. 9, 2024, and Savoy was arrested on Sept. 10, 2024.
