Auburn mayor proclaims local emergency

Due to the urgent need to undertake flood prevention measures recently authorized by the Army Corps of Engineers, Mayor Pete Lewis has proclaimed a local emergency for the City of Auburn.

The proclamation is made pursuant to Auburn City Council Resolution 4519, approved on Aug. 31, and waives certain statutory contracting and budget requirements, authorizes staff to implement emergency purchasing procedures, make certain environment determinations, and take other actions as necessary.

These actions will allow the City to quickly implement emergency flood protection measures along the Green River in anticipation of potential flooding this winter caused by issues at the Howard Hanson Dam.
